Guidance

At P.S. 100, our vision is to educate the “whole child” by providing a challenging and creative program that addresses the students’ academic, physical, and social needs.  We strive to ensure a safe and nurturing environment in which all students grow and thrive.  All members of our school community collaborate to foster the development of every individual child.  As our school continues to diversify, we recognize the importance of social-emotional learning, and work hard to support our students’ emotional growth and well-being.

The C.A.R.E. program is the heart of our Guidance model.  It stands for “Children are Respectful and Responsible Everyday.”  Our unique C.A.R.E. program was developed at P.S. 100 and seeks to address and promote the 5 SEL domains: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making.  Throughout the year, P.S. 100 creates opportunities for students to participate in activities that promote positive behavior.  This month, the Guidance bulletin board is featuring a Kindness Campaign to spread kindness around our school.  10 tear-off flyers have been posted on the board and students are encouraged to take an act of kindness to perform in their classroom or school community.  That is just one example of how we promote community through random acts of kindness.  Please check the website periodically for more campaigns and activities throughout the year.
